WHAT IS LOVE? - PASTOR CLEMENTINA

1 Corinthians 13:4 -8

it is written; Love is Patient, Kind, and does not Envy, Boast or insist on its own way, it is not Irritable, Resentful Or Proud, It does not delight in Evil, but delight in Truth.

I've been experiencing an internal pull for the past few weeks to be filled with God's love—not the love that the world displays, but something that I cannot comprehend—not the love that is self-centered, lustful, romantic, or obsessive, but rather the love that Jesus had. Why was this happening, I wondered? and what was the reason I was being led down this route. I have yet to witness anyone in my life exhibiting true love—that is, the love of God—because everyone preaches and teaches, but nobody possesses the love Christ possessed.

Jesus loved without expecting anything in return, especially not from men. His eyes were fixed on His Father in heaven, and He traveled the route his father laid out for him, never straying from it. However, I've never understood why people who claim to have walked with God for years and years fall apart when a certain scenario happens in their lives; why do they become so hardhearted that they forget the times God has delivered them from such perilous situations. I agree that we are first humans and then spirit beings.

I also wondered if such powerful people couldn't pass the test, would we who are still learning? As I reflected on these things, it occurred to me that when such events occur in our lives, there is some part of ourselves that we have not yielded to God, or there is still a fragment in our lives that is not dead. The bible plainly states that “until a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it will not bear fruit and will remain alone. However, if it dies, it bears much fruit.”

Then a voice spoke from within me, saying "NO LOVE," which was enough to make me comprehend that no matter what we do in the name of God, whether we sacrifice or feed the needy, if God's Love is not present in our lives, we get nothing.

When I read 1 Corinthians 13:4-8, it hit me hard what Christ-like love was, and I began to crave for it. I also believed that love was the most potent weapon ever employed in God's word to impact people's lives.

Prayer: Father. God, may you fill me with your love, your love that surpasses all in this world. May I share your love more than anything else, as you fill me with your love. O Lord, show me your ways and teach me your path; may your love teach us to bless and not curse. In Jesus name I pray, Amen, Amen & Amen.
