Proverbs 3:19 (CJB)
“Adonai by wisdom founded the earth, by understanding he established the heavens.”
The very word ‘understanding’ plays a vital role in every person’s life. The above verse declares that by understanding the Lord established the heavens. What is it trying to teach us as a Christian in this journey of life. Wisdom, Knowledge and understanding are triplets and go hand in hand, one cannot do without another.
We are going to do a study of this particular word ‘Understanding’ from the Bible and will learn it and practise applying it in every area of our life as it will enlighten the dark areas in our being which is still hidden from ourselves and maybe this can be an eye opener for us.
Job 28:28 (KJV)
“And he said to man, ‘Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom, and to turn away from evil is understanding.’
Here we read the above verse from the Book of Job, the foundation of every serious believer when he/she accept Jesus Christ and enters salvation and the first instruction that comes from God’s Word is the fear of the Lord – is Wisdom and depart from evil – is Understanding. We are been warned that every thing that is evil we need not entertain it rather flee or depart from it. God does not tells us to pray against the evil but rather flee / departfrom it. The biggest example we read in the Book of Genesis is when Joseph had to flee from the temptation of sexual immorality which was coming towards him in the form of seduction by Potiphar’s wife. (Read Genesis 39: 7 – 20)
Understanding is a need in every Christian’s character and this is where today many of us are lacking. We are so influenced and motivated by the the videos that we watch in our daily lives on internet hearing some motivational speakers, sadly which even bypasses the Bible wisdom for us.
Prayer - Father in the name of Jesus, give me understanding in my day to day life. Help me to reject and depart every form and kind of evil by the Power and Understanding of Your Holy Spirit and never to entertain it in the mighty name of Jesus.
