LUKE 10:41-42- NKJV
And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken from her.”
If we read from verse 38, we can see how Jesus visits a certain village and enters Mary and Martha’s house, where they welcome Him. However, Mary is anxious to hear what Jesus has to teach and sits at His feet. Why do you believe Mary did what she did?
When Jesus entered Mary’s home, she made herself comfortable at his feet, demonstrating her desire to hear the word. Mary would have heard Jesus preaching and teaching, and everything she heard would have really attracted her. This is because what she was hearing was something new to her ears and something different, which made her hungry for more. However Her sister Martha treated Jesus like a Guest and spent more time preparing food for Him to eat, which led her even to criticize her sister Mary in front of Jesus.
How many of us are following Martha's example? We prioritize everything over what Jesus has to say. We are so preoccupied and worried about everything that we fail to pay attention to what Jesus is trying to say, instruct us and warn us. If we ignore his voice, we will miss out on some of the most important insights, lessons, and warnings that He has given us. Eventually, when we find ourselves in difficult situations, we will come to understand our mistakes.
Prioritizing God above all else is crucial; it's better to be vigilant than to be oblivious and get into needless trouble. Being on the correct route and not straying from the path in front of us is beneficial.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, help me give you the first priority. May I remember your concern for me and include you in whatever I do to ensure that each task is completed successfully. In Jesus' great name, I pray that I transmit your energies all around, benefitting everyone around me. Amen, Amen and Amen.
