2 Timothy 3:16
"All Scriptures is God breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness."
Many people today read and reflect only a few section of the Bible at a time, but this approach is disastrous to both our faith and work lives. We cannot read the Bible as it were merely a mosiac of little bits - theological bits, moral bits, historical bits, sermon bits or devotional bits, by reading and reflecting on Scripture in such a fragmented way, we ignore God's intention to shape our lives through the story of redemption. If we allow the Bible to become fragmented, it is in danger of being absorbed into whatever other story is shaping our culture and thus it will cease to shape lives as it should.
When the Bible says, 'Slaves obey your masters' does it mean that the Bible endorses or tolerates slavery? The answer is NO. Yet half of American Christians in 1800's believed that the Bible tolerated slavery. They allowed Scriptures to become fragmented even though Jesus in Luke 4 set the oppressed man free because he was made in the image of God.
There are several christian cults to name some (Mother Jerusalem, Jehovah Witness, Emperor Emmanuel, etc.,) evangelizing their faith house to house with fragmented Bible verses and growing rapidly under the tag of Christianity and the reason behind it is the fragmented scriptures they have adapted. They have created a whole lot of confusion among the masses not knowing which is true and which to follow. They target people those who are vulnerable with no knowledge of God's Word. Lord Jesus during His earthly ministry had only 12 disciples though he fed 5000 to 7000 people.
The Christian denominations have turned into a sports playground with competition all around proving each other about personal knowledge in scriptural doctrines and debating on it. The highest number of church members is not a point of victory and success rather the few disciples of Lord Jesus who shook the entire globe. We are in the era of counting wavering faith followers on social media rather than making hardcore disciples. We must be willing to pay any price to keep ourselves focused on God's Word and delighting in it standing firm in our faith, if you delight in His Word, He will give you the desires of your heart.
Prayer :- Precious Holy Spirit, help me to delight in your decrees so that I may not neglect your Word. Keep me focused on you in Jesus name I pray, Amen.
