As we learned in the previous blog about building stamina in prayer, let’s go more ahead in knowing and understanding about how can we be successful in this area of stamina building in prayer.
Galatians 5:16 “I say then: Walk in the Holy Spirit and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh”
The above verse interprets that a man cannot be walking in the Spirit and simultaneously living a worldly carnal life because both sides are contrary to each other. Once I was reading a book written by a God’s general which stated ‘a sinning man cannot pray, and a praying man cannot sin’. It was indeed a reality and a profound statement. The first thirty years of Jesus’ life are not known to us, but it’s obvious that He was preparing himself for the Salvation of the world by building His stamina in prayer etc. etc. When His life was known to us, it was complete practical expression based on those thirty years of mysterious life that he lived.
Luke 11: 1- 4 “And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”
We see the above verse that in a certain place, he had just stopped praying and a disciple approaches him saying Lord teach us to pray. This clearly explains that this disciple must be watching closely the prayer life of our Lord Jesus and it is surely not his first time, he must be observing the Lord praying for quiet a long time and for long hours. As we are speaking on building stamina in prayer, am pretty sure this disciple must be thinking how can Jesus pray so much and for such a long time and this is a question that has come in the mind of every believer including me as a young boy. It is not the quantity that will sustain us alone, but in our quality in prayer will bring effortless quantity not to compare with anybody but purely depending on the Grace of God.
You don’t pray like hypocrites to show men, how well and how much you are prayerful, rather let your Heavenly Father see us what you do in secret and reward you accordingly. Let fasting back up your prayer life so that it is much stronger and sustainable. May your prayer banks in Heaven be full to capacity as you keep on pursuing tirelessly.
Prayer - Precious Holy Spirit, today I completely depend upon your Grace to help me to build stamina in prayer. Let me advance in my prayer life in Jesus name I pray; Amen.
