Be Sober and vigilant

1 Peter 5:8 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour”

As a Christian we need to know why do we have to do a spiritual warfare at times, and what is the reason behind it. Why is it our mind is always like a battlefield and why we are in the war all the time. The Bible warns us to be sober and vigilant and not to be carefree or careless.

If you are person who lives a life of ignorance and carelessness not caring for things happening around you, situations created around you than you are in a danger, because the verse says that your adversary the devil (not your neighbor) walks like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour.

If Lord is called the Lion of Judah, the Bible says that even the devil is like a roaring lion who wants to devour. The enemy (devil) has been always waiting for a chance or an opportunity to devour the people of God, by trying to shut every voice of those who preach the truth about the Word of God on this planet earth.

Everyday and everytime we go through situations in life and every now and then our mind is battling. We are battling in the area of finances, health, marriage, children, future and the list goes on. If I ask any Christian today, are you battling with anything in your life and He or She will definitely say ‘Yes I do’.

If you read the Gospels you see, everyday Jesus had to battled with situations and people like the Pharisees and the Sadducees who were like blood sucking leeches around him, arguing, troubling, accusing Jesus and there was a constant battle going on with Jesus. They were always attacking Jesus with words or with actions repeatedly.

Maybe today you too in that situation, nobody tries to understand you, if you want to do good to anyone it turns out bad, you want to do something in life, but it does not works for you.

1 John 5:4 “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.”

It is only the faith in God that we Christians are been surviving on and that is what is expected from the Lord. If you do not have faith, you have lost your battle. It’s only the faith that can keep us going on in our Christian walk. We believe the principle of God – First believe and then see. Whatever is born of God, overcomes the world as Jesus was born of God and he overcame the world. Likewise we belong to Jesus and we too are victorious in Him.

Prayer - Father, in Jesus name give me grace to overcome every works of flesh over my life and let your Holy Spirit take over me so I could be a overcomer in every situation. Amen.
